Michelle Tucker

Michelle Tucker is the Director of Mathematics at Emerald Education. 

Before joining Emerald Education in 2021, Michelle served in various roles in a large urban school district in North Carolina, where she worked for over 21 years. In addition to her elementary and middle school teaching experience, she also worked at the district level in the Elementary Math Department, the Area Superintendents’ Office, and most recently as the Director of K-12 Mathematics. She has led the procurement and creation of district-wide curriculum across all levels and facilitated professional learning on effective mathematics instruction. She has worked to develop a balanced assessment system and instructional model to support all students within the MTSS framework. 

Michelle believes that all students deserve access to a standards-aligned, high-quality rigorous curriculum and a teacher who is highly trained in providing mathematics instruction. Access is at the core of equity, and all students are entitled to access. She hopes to continue leading this work and expanding her impact across the nation by joining the team at Emerald Education. 

Michelle has a BA in Early Childhood Development from the University of Lynchburg (formerly known as Lynchburg College), an M.Ed. from NC State University in Curriculum and Instruction, and was a National Board Certified Teacher. She and her husband are raising two children in Central North Carolina.
