Yvette Stewart-Mackey

Dr. Yvette Stewart-Mackey is a lifelong educator, serving public education for over 20 years. Her life of professional and public service includes work as a kindergarten and first grade teacher, elementary and middle school administrator, university online instructor and associate professor, and state leader with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI).  Undertaking long-range initiatives to deploy at scale, developing innovative strategic reform plans from design to implementation, leadership development and cultivating partner relations has been Dr. Stewart-Mackey’s primary work for the past 15 years.

Yvette was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (1996), a master’s degree in School Administration (2002) as a North Carolina Principal Fellow, an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership (2011), and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership (2013); all from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her reputation as an educational leader earned her the State Superintendent’s Performance Excellence Award in 2013 and she currently serves on several volunteer boards and advisory councils that advocate on behalf of public education affairs and reform.    

Emerald Education taps into her knowledge and expertise with principal leadership development, strategic planning, and cultivating stakeholder relations. She is passionate about creating a culture of excellence, urgency, and the alignment of core values and vision through a servant leadership lens. She is a self-professed “techie” and enjoys the challenges and opportunities modern technology brings. She is married and loves spending time with family, running, and participating in community service projects. "Keep Calm and Carry On" is a slogan she uses often and a message that speaks to how she approaches life.
